Just wanted to give a update to my build: I haven’t started building yet. I’m just planning right now (boring stuff :D). I came to the conclusion, that I want to make my own PCB specifically for this robot just to fit it my needs better! I hope, that I can share more information soon!

Some more Mod work on the Forearms,,, The Female Receiver (Hinge /Bolt Section) has been Thickened up a lot to make it as Strong as Possible ( there’s still 3 to 4mm Clearance during Rotation Cycle ) — the Interior has been Gutted-Out so only the Servo Bed Mounts are left ( and the Section where i Stitched to the x2 Parts together),,,

    • You are physically younger than I expected!
The question now is, will you pose next to your robot or again with a bus the next time we see you?
      🙂

      • Lol,,, next pic will be with Inmoov ,, I’m 35yo in this pic and i just turned 40 –,,, Still look the Same which is kinda weird – ,,lol

  • Mindless posted an update 6 years, 9 months ago

    Like this Damian,,,

    • I will work it out this today, because your drawing looks different like i done, maybe i need to mirror a part

      • Your right,,, i just looked at some photos of the build process and Mr Gael just turns the piece around like you have,,,, so there should be a problem,,,,

      • BTW, where you get so nice schematic?
I was trying modify files using solidworks, but STL is not best format to edit for me

        • I rebuilt all of Inmoovs parts in SketchUp so i can Mod the design to my specs,,, i know what you mean about the Elbow not rotating 90degs,,,,, but dont worry about it ,,,,, it will all make sense when the arm is built

          • I’ve Got a Modded “ElbowGearHolder” that removes the Moment Limits for the Forearm ,,,, but the “Knock On Effect” is terrible if something goes wrong,,,

            • No need to mirror any parts. Build both Biceps the same. The pot and related gears will end up on the outside of the Right Bicep and on the inside of the Left Bicep. These are then attached to RobPart5 (right and left) on the forearm.

            • My bots arms do not extend all the way as well. I printed everything stock.

      • Currently using PLA+ by Esun –,, its tough as hell ( flexible ) and it doesn’t swell like other filaments but getting a good surface finish took a while to tune-in,,,,, great for prototyping parts never have a first layer issues on cold beds and its cheap,,,,,, this is a pic of the Screw/Bolt Together Arm — got to some more mod work the B…[Read more]

Hay Guys Mr Gael,,, just wondering about these X2 Nut/Bolt Holes when they line up the “Front Skin” is sticks out by 3.8mm — ,, is this meant to be like this ? –,,

    • Hello Mindless,
You must have the first version, this was an issue that was reported a few days after I posted the parts. I have modified since then. ( I had mixed a piece of the motorized legs with the non motorized when uploading)
      ThighLowRightV3.stl
      ThighLowLeftV3.stl

      • No worries,,, I’ll download the new V3 Parts,,,,
I really should of checked that out first but it didn’t even occur to me to have a look for a updated part,,,, anyway cheers mate–,,

        • Yes, this must happen to many people.
I see some builders still printing the original hand that I posted in 2011 on Thingiverse, instead of the updated version from the site.

          • Darn, I must have printed the early versions. I’m all glued up too. One of the pains of being one of the first printers. Oh well, mine seem to align a bit better and since I have a color transition it is not noticeable.

            • Hey yes, that’s the privilege to use beta version!
You should see the boxe of beta pieces that are unused in my workshop…
Anyway the motorized legs will require to almost reprint it all.
              🙂

More for the Newbies ,,, but this is how to hold the Screw & Driver in one hand for “Hot Tapping” Screws in– you have about 20sec to tap the Screw in– heat with a lighter or candle until you feel it starting to burn your finger tip,,- this will make a Perfect Tap without “Stressing the Part”

    Here are the Ballends+ Plate — https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2690133

    • Start of a New Mod on Bob/Alans 3 Stage Neck System–
I want to be Able to Print or Make the Ball for the Ends separately ,, this is a Mod iv wanted to do for a while (not sure how it will turn out) — has anyone else out there replaced the Printed Ballends with a Tie Rod or Ball Joint –?

      • I Tried, but the Ball joint was very limited in it’s movement, so I reverted to using 3D printed parts.

        • Cool,, thanks for the info– i thought a Ball Joint might be a bit to limited but wasn’t sure – ,, i will stick with designing some different 3d printed parts and see how that goes,,, Cheers Mats

          • It’s important to have screws that go all the way through the ball because they are much too fragile. I had to glue them with acetone a few times already due to travelling.
If I would do something in redesigning this, I would over dimension those balls and their axes.

            • Yep,, I agree Mr Gael- ,, I was playing around with them last night and the Endballs are 12mm Día with a 7mm Día shaft which is just too small– –

I’ll start by printing a series a of Endballs and shafts at different sizes – but I think 18mm or 20mm will be a good size but won’t know for sure until I start printing tonight ,, I know a few tricks…[Read more]

      • Mine actually made themselves two parts after a couple of days use. No CAD needed. I wanted to preserve the original geometry because it offers about the right range of travel. So I glued them back on and instead of a short bolt I thru-drilled the hole and placed a much longer bolt through it. The bolt passes through the neck and into the…[Read more]

        • That was the original plan just to get a better resolution on the Ballends by printing them separately – but while I’m at it and Mr Gael makes a good point they really are to small and fragile for a major movement system,,,so I will build a Larger version of the Endballs so people have the option to pick and choose –,, Like always I’m a littl…[Read more]

          • I still contend that it would be good to keep them small to simulate a ball joint and add the required strength but adding the bolt, which is already necessary to mount the pistons. Build a lot of strenghte with a LOT of plastic or a little metal. This is one of the more heavily stressed joints on the bot
I am sure either would work fine.

            • Gael’s design is completely unique because it does not require metal. All I am saying is that I am not pure and this is one of the few areas that metal solves a few problems.

              Cheers!

            • Just been taking a real close look at the design,- the Receivers Cups are actually a bit oversized for the Ballends (or made strong depend on your point of view) so that’s a bonus ,,, – the appearance won’t change very much at all,,, Just finished I couple test prints of different sized Ballends,,,, and what a differences a couple of Milli…[Read more]

    • That won’t work for this application for a few reasons… First and foremost no two servos accurately position the same… And if they don’t they tend “fight” each other… A second reason is you would have to solder the pot to both circuit boards… again, won’t work… see reason 1… The simplest and only way is to follow the tutorial Gael wrote….

    • OK, I’ll bite. What is it?

    • You can get Arduino’s at Amazon or Adafruit. There are literally tons of places in the US to get them. As I said below, just Google these. Hobby King is a good place to look for servos

      • hi thanks i have a question about the adriano what is better what he have on his finger starter or new what they sell i not see much anymore what he have

        • Dude, you already asked the same question 2 days… Perry and Bob have answered you. Just buy one or a couple and be done. No need to be so paranoid about where you buy as even the eBay Chinese copies work fine….

Hi Guys, I’ve got my- EyeglassV2- “and” EyeSupportV4- Just about ready to be released- it will do away with having to glue the holder in place because it is now printed with the -EyeglassV2-
All key mechanical movement remains in tacked- the EyeSupportV4 has had a lot of little changes made to it that you won’t even notice (servo mounts /wall t…[Read more]

Hello Mr Gael,, The rebuilding and cutting up of Inmove in SketchUp for bigbed printing is coming along nicely,, as I was doing it a though it might be worth taking some pictures of the parts assembled but not cut up for reference for other builders,, as you can see in the posted picture it will give builder a better understanding of how it all…[Read more]

    • How is it working in SketchUp with the native STL files?

      • Surprisingly well,,, given SketchUp many many flaws and limited tooling, but I can work 10 times faster in it doing non-complex objects,, just finished doing an expansion pack” ericthepoolboy” “Toyota 22RE Engine”
The engine block and valve head really start to slow down SketchUp-and lost some section during the conversion, but SketchUp is up t…[Read more]

    • Thanks for the image. I’m adding it into the tutorial 3Dsketch views. It will certainly help other builders.
Sketchup works pretty well with STL as long as the files do not have too many vertices. Many CAD softwares like to abuse with curves on all the edges and corners, which creates super heavy STL. Sketchup may then start to be very laggy. My…[Read more]

    • Hello Mindless,
Thanks for posting the picture. I have added it to the chest and torso 3D sketch view.
I see you do not have my ThroatLowerV1.stl, but a variation, which might confuse some builders though.

      • Good eye,,, I forget about that, here’s the correct piece in place,, anything you see that out of place just let me know,,

Hi guy and girls ,, here is a 4 Part Skull and 4 Part Internal Supporting Structure,,,Surprisingly a lot of work to put Inmoov back together,, Largest exterior surface alignment error was 0.3mm during mating process of the smaller sections, the leading edges were removed then hand stitched back together,,the forehead needed a little bit of work to…[Read more]

    • Great work. I used your previous version on my head. Really liked the streamlined look.
Will you post thes files up?

      • Yep,, will post the files when i am happy with the finished results (just about there),,, had to do some touch up work last night on the “eye_glass” so the Mounting system for eyes moves a bit more freely….
Will post a pic in my album when finished,,

    • Great Mindless!
Just for info, there is some parts already available in the InMoov derivative collection, but I’m sure you must have seen them already.

    i find this articulation interesting

    • no idea, what is this good for?

      • @Juerg, I’m guessing Amby sees it for the torso and stomach displacements.
The two armonics drive must be for the shoulders. Though when you know how much an armonic drive cost, you back off a little. 🙂
@Amby, yes, it is on that U-joint principle that I had designed the stomach rotations.

    my robot with plateform

    • Very good progress Amby with your robot! Is the wheel platform large enough to keep the robot in balance when you drive it around?

    • hello gael thank you yes the wheels plateform is enough for balance
all is ok with my prototype cardboard so now i start to build in wood

  • amby posted an update 8 years, 9 months ago

hello you can see my video about my easy plateform here
you can see battery removable easy when it is discharge change by a new

  • amby posted an update 8 years, 9 months ago

hello everybody i build a plateform for inmoov it is a very easy plateform very cheaper
it is my first prototype in card board so if some people are interested i can send you plans
    amby

    • Nice work! It is amazing what you do with cardboard ! Can you share some information about the motors you used?

    • Amby the King of Cardboard!
As I commented on your post on MyRobotLab, you could make Thingy on Thingiverse with the DXF and all informations of the motors, wheels and sources. Some builders could reproduce it in PVC or plexiglas.

      • hello gael yes of course a can give everybody plans for built it this plateform very cheap but in first i builf in cardboard for prototype and when all is ok i give plans and informations
i design a connectors for wheels and motor
so i use a motorcycle for children find in trash a small bicycle children find in trash and i use a batterie for drill…[Read more]

    • Very nice!
I see that you are becoming a 3d printer master after being the king of cartboard.
I’m guessing what we see is for the knee rotation, correct?
Did you finally use the motors of the drills you bought or is it with a servo.

    • amby replied 9 years ago

yes you are true gael it is for knee
yes i am always the king of cardboard lol i do all my tests with cardboard and when it is good i do on abs
i use a drill motor for castorama 11 euros motor batterie charger ans very strong

hello the world it is so long time i dont give some new it is because il work to build my legs about the robot

    • Ehi nice project Amby! some videos in action!! And specification details!
      Controlled by MyRobotLab?
      Other builders will love that.

      • thank you gael i working to find a nice solution for my ankle and i do a video after for show everybody and in opensource 🙂
