I am experimenting with how acetone vapor smooths the surface of ABS filament. This boat benchy was place in a vapor bath for 30 minutes. I plan on doing this with my Inmoov.
I know, done it myself but given up because: – acetone is bad for your health – try using pla instead of abs, much easier and less stinky!
Awesome Finish,,, My Only warning is that Pressurized Vapor is actually about 1/8 to a 1/2 stick of TNT,,,, 2Tbps of Petrol Pressurized and Vapor is about 1/2 a stick,,, Acetone Can be just as dangerous So be Careful Dude,,,, they don’t normal tell you that in the Instruction Book,,,,,,, once again Awesome finish

Thanks Mindless. I didn’t know that but I will keep in mind. I don’t keep it under pressure when I smooth ABS in the vapor. I also make my own rocket fuel using confectioners sugar and potassium nitrate. Guess who is going to put a little acetone in with the mix……. (This GUY). If I blow my hand off I’ll let you know!
Hell juerg,
I use 3D Solutech ABS filament and it doesn’t smell any different than the PLA. You might want to give it a try. I have used over 30 spools of this brand with 2 bad spools which the company replaced.
Thank you for your commend!
