Just started building InMoov. I’ve printed the right forearm and hand. I’m now playing (not really, it’s not so easy) with tendons, then I’ll use LeapMotion (fully configured). Next, will print right arm and shoulder, then the left parts. For those living in France, Decathlon sold Fishing line (1mm / 280 Lbs) at a not too expensive price ( […] View

    hehe. Will try to order some springs too (or find them in Paris).

    Gael, do you think that one of those springs is usable? I am thinking to this one mainly:
    d = 0.70
    L0 = 11.10
    Ln = 13.46
    Fn = 30.70
    F0 = 4.50

    Maybe a possible spring for tendons ?

      Actually the type you selected should be fine, but I have no idea how much tension would be required. I suggest getting a cheap box of various springs on ebay and run some test, then we will know what is the best.

        okay I just ordered a box, but if you want a quick build, don’t wait for my test. 🙂

          I have the exact same box at home.
          Its very useful to have.

          and it’s cheap.
          most springs are expensive if you buy just 20.

    Have you already tried this ? If so, what kind of spring do you use, and where to buy it ? 🙂 (ok, I’m lazy 😉 )

    I try to use a spring on the retract tendon retraction in a few days because the tension on the servo is too strong and it suffers from this tension.

    What kind of spring do you use or recommend ?

      Damn, I tried to post a picture in my previous comment to show you how to set the spring to avoid the tension you are describing on the servo, but it didn’t show. I will send it to you by mail.

    This combination allows you to adjust the tension of the tendons much more easily than with knots 🙂

    No. It’s your pulleys, with a modification inspired by the derivative 233923 : no need print again pulleys, just drill and use small wood screws. I used little nuts instead of washers (I did not have washers so small).

      Hello Fred,
      Can I ask you if you made LeapMotion works with InMOOV arm on Windows PC, Linux PC or on a MAC ?
      (I didn’t manage to make it works on my Windows PC, so, I wonder if you did it ).
      Thanks in advance for your reply.

        It is not the derivative :

        that you used for the pulleys?

    I’ll post pictures when the arm is ready. At the moment, I’m looking for the best way to fix the tendons. I am trying to print the Funlab actuators to test.

    I must say that the setting of the tendons is the most difficult part of the mounting arm.

    The ideal should be a (in french) “Tendeur 2 oeils” for each tendon, but I did not find one…[Read more]

      The spring called “ressort tension” is more interesting I think, as I already suggested in various posts to use a spring on the retract tendon to keep both tendons always with a correct tensionning.Images intégrées 1
