hardware and software in my mecanum wheel project
i have made some changes after this video because i needed more power to the motors but the sketch is sill basically the same
Markus, this is so great, I really love those mecanum wheels! Are you using the Joystick service of MRL? Where did you get these cool little joystick? Can they work as remote control without cable?
hello Gael ! no i am not using mrl on the arduino i want to be able move around without the need of the computer so i am working on serial communication between MRL and the arduino sketch insead
yes i am planning to make it wireless
so i can drive around in (transport mode) with inmoov off and when i turn inmoov on MRL can control the wheels as well
That’s great plan! I use the remote control that Alessandro gave me during the Paris Makerfaire to ride InMoov around when I need to go someplace, but I would like to be able to use it also in MRL with voice control. At this moment if I use voice control to tell him to drive I cannot take over with remote control.
Working on it 🙂
Robyn Inmoov is practice driving .
Very cool, Markus! How do you have the controls arranged? For instance, how do you distinguish between « turn right » and « go sideways to the right »?
Woaaaahhh awesome!! Now its time to make space in the house to let InMoov ride around!!! Just incredible to think you are able to build this wheel system with a 3D printer, ahaha! I have added your Thingiverse files to the InMoov collection. This is SO inspiring!
Thanks Gael!
That looks great, Markus. I was wondering – how do you have your controls arranged to cause the 10 possible movments?

Hi all Still frustrated by the new retangular pots i though i would share a two piece design that allow the pot to be rotated. If anyone is interested i can send the solidworks and or stl file
Yes, this is a nice solution to adjust the pot position for square pot Can you share the stl files on thingiverse ? Thank’s a lot
yes no problem here is the improved version http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1124518

Hi everyone! I uploaded all parts for the new eye mecanism inspired by Mats Onnerby and Bob Houston. The mecanism is more sturdy and gives wider degrees of rotation for the eyes. I created files that are simple to print with no support besides for EyeSupport and they require no modifications of EyeGlass (Face). Also I managed to use the same…En afficher davantage
Awesome Gael and thanks for the files and the tutorial.
Thank you Gaël , i cant wait to start the head !

Hi, Just joined from Houston TX. Looking forward to taking on this fun challenging project.
Welcome to InMoov Chris!
Chris, I’m also located in Houston and working on an InMoov with a friend of mine. We’ll have all the parts printed by the end of this week and have already started assembling the hands. Let me know if you’d like to get together and talk InMoov. Bruce foxion@yahoo.com
Thanks Gael! Pleasure to join you and many thanks for sharing this awesome work of yours.
Bruce- I have sent you an email with contact info. Looking forward to it. Thanks again for reaching out.
Hi Markus,
Cool to see these results (I’ve seen your first video about this project at MRL) It’s running fast to 🙂
I’m sure, Robyn will enjoy this new tool to. Thanks for sharing this driving system for InMoov.
Aaah Markus, I’m glad you finaly post your video on InMoov site for other builders to see what you are working on! Super progress!

Last night InMoov had something of a Picasso painting… Modifying the eye mecanism to adapt a mix of Mat and Bob to be able to use my previous face design along with the Hercules camera and the DS929HV servos.
OOOhhhh Yes,
This is very good news Gael 🙂 I will soon start printing the head, so your update is just on time 😉
This week I will receive my new _XT filament from ColorFabb. I hope it’s a good filament to use for most InMoov parts, even for the shoulder mechanical parts.
Other question about the camera, are you still happy with your…En afficher davantage
Well the hercules HD does a good job as far as what I do with it. But as I said it would be ideal to have a board for post processing things like tracking, face tracking, object color detections to let the computer do other tasks. The Pixy camera would be great but it is mounted on such a big board…
I will wait for this camera: https://openmv.io/ Leon has ordered them via kickstarter 🙂 This has the same results and is smaller ! I hope the price is the same like the Pixy cam.
The Pixy already used a 4-layer PCB, so it would be a hard work to make this smaller 🙂 Option is to ask for a sort camera-shield mount option.
I use the raspberry PI camera in one of the eyes of the modified head. It’s much better quality than a USB 2.0 camera. And the intention is to use the Rpi to do image processing. You can even find a really small version of the camera. https://www.pi-supply.com/product/adafruit-spy-camera-raspberry-pi/
@Marten, As you mention in private message the OpenMV could be a nice option because it is python based and Open source which could be easily added to MyRobotlab with no need to use an extra Rpi. @Mats, I personnaly would rather a smaller device than having to use a Rpi for the image processing, because with the tests I did using the Rpi the fps…En afficher davantage

Cool! I will post a new eye mecanism (today or tomorrow) if you had planned to use my original parts. Or you can also use the parts of Bob or Mat, depending on what you want to do.

Nervo Board Hello Gael Do you know when you will ship my Nervo boards? Money went from paypal on 9th October but I have heard nothing, the shop says on backorder now but didn\’n when I ordered.
Thanks Richard
Hi Richard, Nervo boards have been shipped with a delay because I didn’t have anymore XT60 connectors. The shop had a malfunction which should be fixed (Thanks to Sebastien) because it changes from « backorder » to « in stock » everytime somebody would purchase a Nervo board and vice versa. But rest assured that it’s on the way to your address.

And here the video again (First post seems not work on InMoov site)
Awesome! Nice progress! After testing myself the Oxboard in my workshop, I am amazed how human body can adapt itself to an unbalanced engine in such a short time. By the way thank you for sending it to my workshop! I am wondering how InMoov is going to balance itself on that engine though. It seems even more complex when having the robot standing…En afficher davantage
We’ve already bought an Heading hold gyroscope (as used on model helicopters etc.) and will experiment with it trying to find balance. But I agree, it will probably be difficult to achieve. We also want to control both servos with one joystick. I saw already some sample-scripts, so that’s more likely to succeed. We will keep you informed.
Hi, A few weeks ago my son Wouter and I showed you are planning to let InMoov drive around on an OxBoard. It seems to work out pretty well! 1. First we constructed “nice, skinny legs” from pipes and Key Clamps. (See picture 1 below) Only the ankles are moving forwards and backwards using two servos with pistons. (See picture 2). The actual pos…En afficher davantage

Hello,
here is the first video of « Hansi » with working Torso and Head
very well finished and alot gone into the finish of the parts by the looks of it. i like the led lighting effects. how did you achieve that, especially the eyes ?
i make this FX with NeoPixel Ring.
12 LED NeoPixel for the Head and a 24 LED NeoPixel for the Torso
Noticed that your shining Hansi talkes and understands German. Are you controlling it with MRL? If so could you provide details for the setup?
Yes Hansi is understanding german, but i use a EZB4 Controller to do that.

Grüße Boris
Wow. That’s a high quality build. You must have spent a lot of time to make the parts look so good 🙂
hi rentaprinta how did you mount the neo pixel in the head and where ?
Nice video Boris! InMoov lights up for Christmas time!! it’s nice when InMoov starts to talk through program isn’t it? I heard you had to use keyboard typing during the Berlin Makerfaire instead of voice recognition, in fact I met Bodo Facklam in Roma.
Hello Gael,
yes the Inmoov can make now some christmas atmosphere 😉
My girlfriend is using the keyboard to write sentences to give better answers to the people. Normaly the Inmoov had some random programs who are running. But to give a answer to a question what he did´nt know, we must use the keyboard.
I was thinking to use a bluetooth…En afficher davantage
