So is there any estimate on how many complete/incomplete inmoovs there are in the world? seems like there are about 20 or so completed with videos on them and at least a few hundred being worked on that I can find documentation on so there are probably about 3-5K worldwide I am estimating? I am wondering how many nervos have been purchased.

      Hello,
      Way, WAY above those numbers!
The current estimation 16/03/19 is above a thousand built partly complete. We have no idea how many complete robot there is.
To give you an exemple, I was recently visiting a school, where they have 3 complete (with legs) InMoov. They never posted pictures or videos of their robots…
The 1000 clones is based…[Read more]

Well I’d say your number is likely higher.. due to the fact that the InMoov community has over 6,000 users now. IF you figure only HALF of those people built there InMoovs in one form or another.. and than add the fact as you said a school had 3 of them.. and I’m going to be building 2 of them .. one male one female. So he’ll have a companion LOL…[Read more]

I was able to calibrate my printer to get most of the parts to push fit. However still struggling with getting some neck pistons and shafts that work together right off the print-bed. I got a prusa I3. What slicer software and general settings are peeps using? I was going with 20% infill and 3 perimeters with .25mm layer height. Thinking about…[Read more]

I have an anet a6 and found that I got best results using slic3r pe and using .16 layer. I also used 30% infill. First piston I did, I had .24 and it was a pain, when I went to .16 all others are smooth as.

great thanks, think I will take it a lil lower and try a .1 layer height and see how that goes.

I’m still making progress developing an iOS app to control a robot. Thank you Gael, InMoov is a great platform to do this kind of experiments.

Looks Great, I am pretty much same spot as your are in the build. what did you use to hold down the cameraboard? the holes are tiny, I was thinking about some silicone to hold them in place but maybe the middle eye part will hold it down tight enough.

Hello builders. I\’m new to Inmoov but planning to work on it. Does anyone have any suggestion or reference on how to start? Currently planning to build the head and neck part.

    • Profile picture of juerg
juerg replied 6 years, 9 months ago

Gael recommends a hand to start with. Will give you challenges in printing, assembling, controlling. Afterwards the rest is not so difficult to accomplish but takes a lot of time!

Chuah Wei Jie replied 6 years, 9 months ago

Because I’m having my Final Year Project currently, and due the limitation of cost, building head and neck is the only way for me to accomplish my task and target, hha. I’m searching for someone to guide me and to discuss together throughout the building process.

        • Profile picture of juerg
juerg replied 6 years, 9 months ago

OK, did not read your request properly. Have you decided what kind of neck you want to build, the single piston up/down or the double piston, which allows to move in more directions?
I have also created an alternate for the head with less parts and holes – https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1636086

Chuah Wei Jie replied 6 years, 9 months ago

It’s Okayy. Erm, I was targeting to build on the neck proposed by Bob Houston, as the link attached below. I wonder is that a good suggestion? Since, there are a lot of people working on it.
            Link : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1243403

Wow. That’s cool. I’ll consider about it.

Have been through the BOM but would love feedback on any experiments with cheaper servos – has anyone tried alibaba – there looks to be some good looking servos being made in China for import…

    • Profile picture of juerg
juerg replied 6 years, 9 months ago

Cheap servos will kill you. They do not run smoothly, will easily burn up, and stop working after some time. Some of them are also rather challenging to replace. Better to leave e.g. one arm/shoulder unmotorized and have the other one working fine.

The plan was to get down to the waist and then start buying the electronics – almost there, also thinking about a new printer design, to add to the one i have already but maybe a little bigger and no A frame – started sketching…..
