I am doing the main chest area at the moment and I am printing the supports around the Kinect. Have printed the two InterKinectMidV1s for the center. I have printed two InterKinectSideV1’s. Hi. Just a question. Now I am printing the correct parts, things are alot better. Although I have stuck one problem. The Jaw wont acclude totally, is that normal? Hi. I needed to trim the Face Holders to allow the Ear Sides to sit on correctly. Has anyone done a mod of these to make more room, or is there a good way to edit the stls for these?

Hello John,
These parts normaly don’t need refining, I checked again the models and I have a gap between the parts of about a 1mm which lets them assemble correctly.

Hi. So I am starting to reprint my inmoov from scratch. I started with some cheap filament that came on 250g rolls, but now I am buying 1kg rolls but its whiter and I want a uniform print. But, if I decided to spray the parts like I see some people have done, what do people use. I assume I would need to sand the surface. What Grits would you use…[Read more]

I had some not so nice joins between parts after a glue failure, so I hid the ugliness with some nice red paint.
I sanded starting a 80 grit on the belt sander (Don”t do this, it melts the plastic)
I worked my way up the grits to 400 grit, hand sanding.
Then used some high gloss enamel paint.
The result were quite reasonable.

Yep,, that right,,, buy all different Sandpaper Grades in the small rolls or sheets you will need some 800grit for sanding between coats of the Spray Putty and 1200grit for Sanding between the finish coats but get some 250grit /400grit/600grit for the rough work it just depends on how rough the Plastic Surface is to start with – Dulux have r…[Read more]

Hi. I can understand the difficulty of maintaining files. I have been involved in R2D2 Hobby building and designing and providing open source files. Keeping revisions up to date is a real work in itself. I will definitely only follow the Gallery from this point. Definitely a good idea to remove the zip files.

Hi. Just had a frustrating day, printing the Lower back of the head to only realize the stl I downloaded a month or so ago was out of date. The one I printed was in two parts and minus joining lugs to connect to the rest of the head. Hi What I had to do with the parts was file an area back near the lower two joining lugs on the Top Mouth part, to allow them to meet. The prints both join perfectly now, so I am not sure why I had a problem. One Lug slots over the other face part now, but looks neat from the outside. Cool,,, File work is common–,, I’v built a lot of weird contraption over the years for farmers and you quickly realize its always easier to remove Material then it is to add Material–,,

Hi I have just printed the SideHearv3 and when I try and align them with the TopMouthv3, they appear to not line up. Where the bolts are they seem to be spaced especially at the bottom connectors. Hello,
On your picture you are giving an angle between thos two parts, but if you align the holes there shouldn’t be any gap. (Or almost no gap, it depends on the quality of your print)

Not that I know of,,, its pretty easy to work out once you play around with the Parts for a while,,, it just take a bit of time to get the whole project worked out—- thats one reason why i built- “3d Inmoov”- so i would know every Sq/mm of him–,,

Hi. As I print the head I want to be able to add the electronics in as I go, rather than build the whole lot and add them in later. For the Eye mechanism I noticed that I need three Servos. The ones recommended seem to be close to $60 or more dollars each. Is there a more affordable but safe alternative for the servos, and would anyone have a link…[Read more]

Looking good,,, shop around for Servos and spend a day or 2 researching them,,,, I just uses Ebay to get a price average –

9G SG90 Micro Servo — the x2 small ones for the eyes-,, these are the cheapest you can get,,,, and you get what you pay for when it comes to servos—(normally)

No worries,, all my mod work is based on removing the glue from the building process and using screws & bolts instead because gluing PLA is difficult ,,

Gluing ABS with Acetone is easy and makes a Bullet Proof joint,,, I haven’t tried the lock tight but iv never head anyone complain about it either –,,, I normally just sand the two PLA Sur…[Read more]

To run your kinect with MyRobotLab, you need to set it in the config files.
The Nervo Board doesn’t take control of the kinect, it’s the software MyRobotLab that will take over.
1-Install MRL by following this tutorial:

The “Build Yours” Tab has the tutorials and ever thing else you need ,,, some of the tutorials are using older parts I’m not sure if Mr Gael has updated them because its a time consuming job –
The Screws your looking for are in there in the “Hardware Map & BOM”— near the bottom of the “Build yours” List – –

Here’s a quick import I just done of a Version 2 I had archived ( light Tan) – and the new V3 Version I just downloaded (brown) – there been a lot of updates to this pieces so I would definitely reprint the new version,,, ( see the pic in the new post)

Hi. I printed the eye plate as per instructions and without support material and it came out perfectly. The next parts I printed was the Upper mouth pieces that join to the bottom of the eye part. Hay John…, if you go to the STL Parts Library and just Single click on a Picture the part will pop up in a Viewer that just spin the part around and around so you can see all sides of it,,, it can be very handy for checking stuff like that out – but yes those pieces under the Nose come off – Mr Gael adds the Support material to some pats par…[Read more]

I am about to start on this big project and I want to start with the head down like alot of the builds here. I want to print the eye section first.
