The Nervo board was developed by Marten de Groot and Leon van der Horst.

What is it?

It is an Arduino-compatible shield for Uno or Mega that allows you to connect all the servos of one side of InMoov robot. If you are building the complete robot, you actually will need two of these sets.
This board can also be used if you are only building the hand, or just the head. Each breakout board is dedicated with a part name.
Note: These boards are cut with my CNC for now, because we haven’t found a low cost solution for small series.

The set contains:

1x Set of 1 shield board, 11 mini breakout boards.
14x 2.54mm 2×7 Pin 14 Pin Straight Male Shrouded PCB Box header IDC Socket
14x 2.54mm Pitch 2×7 Pin 14 Pin IDC FC Female Header Socket Connector FC-14

1x 2.54mm 3×40 Pin 120 Pin Right Angle Male Pin Header Strip
1x (up to 3, depending of your power sources and servos)RC XT60 Lipo Battery Connectors
1x Momentary Tactile Tact Red Push Button Switch 5 Pin SMD SMT 6x6x3.7mm (for resetting the Arduino)

  1. I ordered a first set to start. I’m very satisfied with the quality of the content quickly delivered the next day. I still have some work to finish printing before to start assembling of the head and integration of the different components.

    • Hi,
No it doesn’t, as described on the product page. The leds and resistors are not very necessary. The Nervo board can fonction without anyway.

      Not included:

      -1x 3D printable SpacerConnectV1
      -1x 3D printable ShoulderConnectV1
      -3x 3D printable ConnectorV1
      -1x 3 meters 14 Conductor Ribbon Cable
-4x Led 5v (Optional, for lighting the InMoov Logo)
-4x Resistor 470 ohm, yellow, violet, red, gold (Optional, for lighting the InMoov Logo)

  2. I’m building a complete InMoov and using MyRobotLab, so the logical choice is to use the Nervo rather than develop a less effective, probably more expensive solution from scratch. If you want to do your own thing, that’s fine, but it helps a whole lot to understand how something was designed and is supposed to work before you blaze your own trail. The Nervo board is part of the design and it will truly simplify the wiring and operation of your bot. One Nervo board will handle the head, neck eyes and stomach plus one arm and hand including sensors. It looks like two Nervo boards will handle both arms and all current systems, probably including variants like the 3-axis head.
Assembling the boards was a little monotonous, but not at all difficult. It took me maybe 1.5 hours. The hardest thing was probably splitting the right-angle break-away headers. Fortunately, there are a few extras. Read through the instructions on the web site, lay out the boards and dry-fit the parts and then read the instructions again.
Go ahead and buy some (3mm) LEDs and resistors because they look pretty cool and tell you the power is on. If you have not done a lot of circuit board soldering, there are plenty of good guides out there on YouTube and elsewhere. If you don’t already have a soldering station and are someplace that uses 110V, just order a Stahl STSSVT for about $21. I use .015″ (.38 mm) silver solder (62/36/2 from Radio Shack). .025″ is common but thinner is better. And get some desoldering wick just to be safe.
I’m about to order my second Nervo board and am really looking forward to getting everything Mooving!

  3. Hello,
i just ordered this item, but just noticed it is on backorder! Doesn it means it will be sent when available? Can you please confirm everything is ok? i have a transference for Anneke Langevin of 59.11euros

    Thanks in advance! Great work

  4. Hey! I noticed this item is back ordered, I was wondering how long it would take to ship this item? I need it urgently to complete my project. I live in the United States, I am well aware it is holiday season so how long would it take to receive this item. Thanks!

    • Hi,
When the product is in back order, it can take up to a month before shipping when I wait for components. With the holidays I wasn’t able to have time to do any shipping, but I am trying to ship every once a week anyway. For info all components are in stock, so I’m currently able to keep shipping.

  5. Hello, Gael Langevin!
In September last year, I purchased the Nervo Board + Components on your website(http://inmoov.fr/shop/ ), how to have not yet received? Express a single number is: LG003587979FR. I began to think that stay in the customs, today I played a postal express telephone consultation that express or stay in France, I would like to ask what is the reason? Thank you!

    • Hello Xi Peng,
In September? It’s five months ago! What is your order number?
But why didn’t you message me before? Now it’s too late to enquire anything from the post as the tracking is not valid anymore.
Normally packages take between two weeks to 35 days to arrive.

  6. Hi, Gael Langevin!my order number:LG003587979FR。Can’t you find it? This is my first international express, others told me that the general international express takes two to three months, there may be stopped at the customs.

  7. Hi Gael,
I would like to ask you how long it would take to get a package of Nervo Board + Components to Chile? Is it possible to speed up that time? Although this implies a greater cost.
I congratulate you for the great project you have given us.

    • Hello,
It would take about 6 to 8 days according to the post. I use a tracking shipping which lets you follow your package.
What is impossible for me to evaluate is the time the customs of your country will hold the package.
We do shipping on friday and monday depending on my free time.

  8. Hello Gael,
I bought two nervo boards on January 4 and received an email with the details of the purchase. I would like to know if there is a tracking number for my package (Order # 10105). Or is it still not sent and should I wait for a tracking number to arrive via email?

    • Hello,
No your Nervo Boards haven’t been shipped yet.
I am sorry about that, but I had a crazy time with work and there is too many orders to process for one man.
Rest assured that you will receive a tracking number within the next days as soon as my work slows down a little.
      Thanks for your understanding!

  9. Hello, I made order (#10120) on Jan 11, 2018 for 2xNervo+components. Received Tracking #LG009405705FR. Last tracking update was Jan 19, 2018. Nothing has happened for two weeks. Is this normal or should I be concerned that something went wrong? Thank You, Roy

    • Hello,
I have contacted the French post regarding your package tracking LG009405705FR
It seems that it is being held up by the customs. It’s taking longer than normal average time though.
Let’s keep in contact and be a bit patient.

      Best regards,

  10. Ordered 2x Nervo Boards & Components on January 25th received February 16th downunder here in Australia, WOW….. that makes the World seem so much smaller as considered because of distance will order months before needed now I`ve got to get the 3D printer motoring.

    Many Thanks

  11. Gael, Just keeping in touch. Still nothing.
    ….Hello, I made order (#10120) on Jan 11, 2018 for 2xNervo+components. Received Tracking #LG009405705FR. Last tracking update was Jan 19, 2018. Roy

    • Hello Roy,
      This is not good!
I have file a search form by the French post, but they are terribly long to give an answer.
In the meantime let me know in a week if you have any news.
Sorry about that, it’s very rare but sometimes the USA custom holds the parts for no reason.

  12. Gael, You were nice to resend my order for 2 kits. They have been stuck in customs for 2 months. The new shipment arrived within 5 days!!! If the other order ever gets out of customs, I’ll donate it to a local school in your name. Thanks again, Roy

  13. Hello Gael,

Thank you for your answer. It has been so useful. I’m 14 years old and I want to start to build the InMoov robot. If you don’t mind I’ll ask you when I have any doubt. However, your explanations are so clear.

    Best regards

    • Hello,
I have sent the Nervo Board to Argentina 4 times before.
We are using normal post with tracking service.
Unfortunately the tracking is not accurate once the shipping is in your country, which makes it difficult if it gets lost.

  15. Hello
I was trying to order the nervo boards + components. But the checkout page show the message ‘it is not possible to order this because the item is not in stock’ .. I understand it must be difficult to keep up :p But it would be nice if someone could just order it awaiting the parts to be available again. I saw some ordered while parts were in Backorder. Is ‘out of stock’ different?

  16. Hi Gael:
    Thank you for your contribution!
I come from China. I can’t buy online,Because the international transport time is too long. Can you send me the “PCB” file?I’ll print it myself.Thank you very much.
    Best wishes for you!

  17. I know i’m being annoying but I want to ask again if when do materials usually arrive here in the Philippines since we are doing our project, it’s deadline is on February and we are still new in terms of making a robotic arm. Thank you very much!

  18. Hello Gaël,

I am appreciated your open source InMoov, so I did order Nervo Board components last Nov 12,

I use the track no. LG013768091FR to check the status of delivery but chronopost showed that they don’t have any information related to above shipment number.

I am not sure that there might have something wrong about shipment process or not. Could you suggest me how to check the delivery status, please?

  19. Good morning Gael, and any Inmoov builder/s passed by. I’m new to Inmoov and currently planning to start working on it. My plan for now is to build the head along with the neck only (and the torso just to support the head and neck), so is it suitable for me to buy this product?

    • Hello and welcome,
If you plan to run only the head with neck, you will need only 1 Nervo Board kit.(leftside)
Note that the rollNeck servo (tilting head sideways) is by default attached to the second Nervo Board kit (rightside)
But you can reconfigure the pin servo setting to use only one kit.

  20. Thanks for reply, Gael. Does it means that, by purchasing just one,the nervo board and components, will be enough to build the upper part (Basically, Head, Jaw, Eye, and the Articulating neck, and both can function well) instead of two?

  21. Gael,
I am looking at purchasing the Nervo Boards with components. 1. When are they coming off backorder. 2. How hard is it being unsoldered to solder with someone without experience?

  22. YAY! The nervo board+parts order just arrive, great packaging and everything looks awesome, boards are all labeled nicely. I placed my order on the 7th of March, they were on backorder and they just arrived, I live in Western USA. Can’t wait to start soldering! Thanks again Gael!

    • Hello,
      Sorry to hear that!
Either your package is being held by the customs of your country or it is lost.
I will write to the post service to launch an investigation.
I will keep you informed, but it might take a some time.
      Best regards

  25. Hey Gael, I know you’ve responded to several others and explained the reason for shutting down the shop. I also saw you mentioned potentially reopening it by May 11th if everything was returning to normal. Do you still think this is a possibility or do we need to wait a little longer?

    • Hello,
Yes I will reopen the shop soon.
But potentially will do that around the 20th instead of the 11th.
The reason is because our post offices are going to be submerged the first week with packages and mails that have been standing/waiting during the confinement. I don’t like the idea to have some lost packages because the post cannot overcome the amount of work.
I believe it will be more secured a week after, although traffic will not return to normal before a long, long time.

  26. Bonjour Gael,

    • Hello,
I suggest you start small and build the FingerStarter, this will help you get a clear overview of the very basics. It allows you to run and test Myrobotlab, our software to give vocals orders to the finger. If you order a NervoBoard, it takes an average of two weeks to be delivered, but currently (05/02/2022) we have a stock issue, so it might take longer.

  30. Salut,

    • Hello,
I have responded yesterday to your private email, maybe it went into your spam.
Yes we have received your order.
We try to ship once a week, and you placed your order the day we shipped the previous load, that is why it’s taking a bit of time.
But rest assured you will receive a tracking number as soon as I find time to get to the post office.
      Best regards,

  31. Good day,
I’m sorry, but I’ll substitute google translate for my rough English, which should lead to a better understanding. Mr. Langevin, I’m building your robot and I ran into a few details that were preventing me from progressing. I ended up solving these problems by reprinting and changing the assembly procedure. I’m writing to you because I’m interested in a few things that will be waiting for me soon.
I can’t find the Kinect you used, can I use a replacement? For example, something with regard to sales today. You have already sold out “Nervo board + Components” in your e-shop, will it still be available? Because, otherwise I’d have to make my own boards and it would help a lot to have schematics / printed connections.
I look forward to your reply.

  32. Hi, I’m looking to buy the Nervo Board + Components too. Will there be more in stock?
And……your Project is really cool. I started with on finger and now…more and more. Thank you very much.
