Hi all, we are planning to adapt this inmoov design for one of our recipient that loss both hands from electrical accident. He was amputated at the shoulder level in other to save his life. Our intention is to build inmoov hand and torso for him. We will appreciate your technical input in this forum because we are going to resize some of the stl…En afficher davantage
Hi Ayodele I am sorry to say but your request sounds like much much overexpecting abilities of a self printed hobby robot. before talking to your friend about this build one for yourself to understand fully the limits of such a project.
Hi Juerg Thank you for your thoughts, i know that the idea of adapting inmoov rob hand for a human being sounds crazy but i have high hopes and some of the changes i intend to make are; 1: Use a single servo to control the fingers in other to reduce weight. 2: Use the methods stated in anthropometry to get approximate measurement of his hand,…En afficher davantage
your list clearly shows that you do not understand the limits inherent to a robotic arm. Even with predefined programmed servo moves it is hard to e.g. have a repeatable soft ball passing from one hand to another. It’s fingers will never be able to handle a spoon! You might replace a finger with a spoon but will have to go a long way to not lose…En afficher davantage
Hi Juerg, thanks for your thought. The list that i reference are standard for a good prosthetics though it is impossible to meet all the requirement 100% because some condition on the last has to be sacrificed in other to meet other requirement and the physiology of the users residual limb plays a huge role in meeting those requirement. The…En afficher davantage
Hi Ayodele, I like your positive attitude, it is better to try and fail than to not try at all. Each failure is a sucess because we learn from it. We change our hipothesis move forward and try again. In terms of holding a spoon or fork, there are adapters that can slide onto a finger even an inmoov finger I will see what I can find. Good luck with…En afficher davantage
Hi Michael, i will appreciate a any info you have on fork holder for prosthetic hand. My thinking is that if the intended recipient can handle a spoon and be able to clean up after using the toilet, his quality of life will improve significantly because he stays indoors always at the moment and he need another adult to be with him often in other…En afficher davantage

Awesome piece of work Walter. How long did it take you to get to this stage?
Thanks Cole. I started a year ago. I did two. My first was a prop with no motors or electronics and low quality prints as I was learning a lot. Went thru several 3D printers too. The second one has the electronics and the quality is much better. I made lots of mistakes along the way, but learned a ton of things. I am starting to think about…En afficher davantage

Your second test seems quieter, or that a deception? Did you make changes to reduce the noise?
In the initial tests I ran the servos at 100% velocity
In subsequent tests I’ve been running them at 30% velocity
It makes a small difference in terms of the noise 🙂
To be honest, I feel that I just need to apply more silicone grease on the pistons to make things smoother

I am programming my InMoov using EZ robot software. I have taken his forearms off as I am updating his servos for his hands, so only part of him works at the moment. His head, neck and torso is working in this video. I have added an adapted « Bob Houston » neck on him by Gestalt73. Fitted a speaker in his mouth, but need to work on the…En afficher davantage
Lorn, that’s brilliant. How long have you been working on your Inmoov? I’m using EZ to co troll mine but I’m not as far ahead as you. Where are you in the UK? Steve
Hi Steve, thanks Been building my InMoov since about last August when I bought my Wanhoa printer. Started using EZB about January time. I can send you my files if you want as I found that looking at existing setups answered so many questions. Also chat to Bob Houston on the forums as hes made his files available. They really give an insite to…En afficher davantage
Hi Steve I was thinking about your ideas on a robot meet. One idea might be to have meet-up using video conferencing. I use « zoom meeting » at work regularly and its free. We could set up a time/date that suits people is the US also maybe. Its really simple and you can use your mobile phone/laptop/pc etc to participate. We could keep it…En afficher davantage
Hi Lorn, that’s a brilliant idea. I’ve not seen Zoom before. It look a bit like face time. I’ll join up and perhaps we can do a test run together.

I have been working on my robot for about 2 years with a move in the middle. I have had several issues with printing some of the lead screws on the neck. There in not enough clearance between the nut and the screw. I am playing around with several screws that I got from Igus. They will require making the servos multi turn, so I am working on…En afficher davantage
Try decreasing the size of the screw by 2 or 3%. That has worked for me in the past.
I had to do the same as my printer was not perfectly calibrated. I scaled in the X and Y directions but not the Z as this would change the pitch.
I had this problem with the jaw screw. After reading Perry’s comment i looked into how to scale stl files. Turns out it super easy using NetFab Studio, so i’m going to give it a try on the neck screw.
I too was not able in the beginnning to have the screws go into the nuts. I moderately heated up the nut’s (not the screws as they get ruined by heating up and forcing them ) and was able to get a very good going with them (PLA btw)

Been working on the head. I’ve heavily modified it fixing the lower jaw. I have then split it into a front shell and a back shell. The two fix together with magnets. The back is fixed to the rear bracket . The eyes are fixed into the front. I’m going to put lights in the slot for the mouth which will light up when he speaks ( no idea how that will…En afficher davantage
