    Hi Ivor here,
Working for an engineering company in Australia as the marketing manager.
I am currently building a 3 printer at the moment (not a company project but as hobbyist under the supervision of our robotics designer). When complete I will start on the bot.
    Looking forward to it!

Hi there. I only just got your message as I’ve been hovering mainly around the myrobotlab shoutbox. I’ve just finished the head, torso, left arm, shoulder and lower stomach. Currently printing the right arm. Highly recommend the myrobotlab web-site. They are really helpful and friendly. Good luck with your 3D printer.

This is InMoov implemented in ROS URDF. This is the first step before you can integrate him with other tools, like Gazebo simulation or MoveIt! inverse kinematics and pathing. There’s alot of work left to do, but it’s coming along nicely.

      Hi Alan
      Looks great, congrats!
Are you using combined stl’s for the movable parts? I had startet to build them but it’s a lot of work and so far it’s by far not finished.
Played around with kinetics (did you see my “look at hand”) but my math background it rather week and I am not really able to follow e.g. the stanford university lessons with…[Read more]

        Hey juerg,

I do remember seeing that video, it was really impressive. One of the reasons that I’m moving over to ROS is for the inverse kinematics packages that are already there, like MoveIt.

It took me most of last weekend, but I was able to combine all of the stls that I needed to, reset the origins in MeshLab, then used robot_editor to…[Read more]

      Hi Don
Thanks for the link to Chucks method of joining pieces with a Dremel or other rotary tool. Tried it out on this rainy weekend and got much better results than expected – and that was without any longtime experience. Once you can master that process it opens lots of possibilities to enhance the surface of combined parts.

Ehehe! Cool ! Long journey in perspective!!
You might want to adjust the sucking back material setting in your slicer software to avoid the “hair” between the parts. It will help for further prints and quality.

ok so i have no printed the jaw piston and hinge in both abs and pla on lulzbot taz 5 and the same problem the piston will not go into the hinge without doing a lot of filing down on both and i mean like half of the print. any suggestions?

    • Profile picture of Gael Langevin
Gael Langevin replied 9 years, 8 months ago

Definitely a calibration issue with your printer. Your printer must be extruding a little bit more than necessary or the X and Y axis aren’t adjusted which might deform slightly your shapes. Try printing a calibration cube and circle to make sure you have it correct otherwise you will spend hours filling all the parts.

      • Profile picture of Don Kieffer
Don Kieffer replied 9 years, 8 months ago

I agree with Gael. On some of the other smaller pistons I made before I realized it was a calibration issue I took very fine grit sandpaper and wrapped it around the piston, gripped firmly and twisted to remove of the excess til it worked in the receiver perfectly. Then I use a heat gun to apply a little heat and repeat the process with cheap…[Read more]

Hi Gael – great info thank you.what is the consistency of the ABS slurry you use. your prints are look great.

      • Profile picture of Gael Langevin
Gael Langevin replied 9 years, 8 months ago

The slurry is almost totaly liquid. It’s hard to say how much percent of ABS and acetone. Maybe 20 to 30 percent of ABS for 100 acetone.

    • Profile picture of juerg
juerg replied 9 years, 8 months ago

      Hi Gael
I still think you should give HT-PLA a try and use a print plate that will not need any slurry or tape and allows to remove items by just picking them up from the cooled out print bed!
