Finally was able to get the finger tester printed. Trying something different for the finger joints. Using M2x20 roll pins instead of 3mm filament or screws. Seems to work fairly well holding the joints together and allowing good movement. I will need to trim them and expand the ends to keep them in place, but for the most part they are a snug…En afficher davantage

Robyn Inmoov webkitspeech
Great video Markus! Always on the cutting edge! I recently tested the webkitrecognition during an event and got a bit frustrated with the delay for to get the responses from the server. When the wireless connection is poor, InMoov has to « think » for very long seconds, it can be up to 20 seconds which feels like an eternity on the front of the…En afficher davantage

Hi everyone, Im building INMOOV for my own pleasure ive been a IT Administrator for around 20 years now and love the fact that Gael has started this project. My printer is currently printing 24/7 to try and get the pieces printed ready for building. i think i will be using LiFePo battery to power it as they seem to be alot higher power and longer…En afficher davantage

My printer is out of work for a moment… Gee what a smell, if you ever get your heated bed that burns out, you need to ventilate your workspace!! It took me a while to find a heated bed this size in Europe . 300x200mm. I finally ordered the PCB in Danemark.
wouaaa it is hotttt lol amazing
Oh yeah and it smells really bad in my workshop…
i can t think it is possible and so so dangerous
Uhh, Uhh, my printer manufacturer had changed his print bed product line to make it almost impossible to overheat it (you could fiddle with the control SW however). I assume some workshops could run into serious problems having the printbed burning through. Think about switching to PLA-HT (or HT-PLA) which is as good as ABS but prints on a 50…En afficher davantage
@Geal I guess it’s beause your heating bed’s temperature sensor have loose from your heating bed!! I suggest you check complete all your 3D printer’s switch, sensors to prevent this happen again…

Marvin got an update for appearance
Hello Juerg, Awesome robot! I’m trying to see which appearance update Marvin’s recently got.. Blue super hero strips on the biceps?
Thanks, Gaël, my robot did not have colors at all before and I did a lot of grinding on the breast parts. Took me also some time to make the characters fit into the indents 🙂
Ah of course!! Marvin has a great look! Only the eye pupils are too small and it makes him a bit scary. 🙂 You could use the same blue paint for to color the eye rings
My Marvin with blue eyes – what will keep the girls away?
Ehehe!!

i find this articulation interesting
no idea, what is this good for?
@Juerg, I’m guessing Amby sees it for the torso and stomach displacements. The two armonics drive must be for the shoulders. Though when you know how much an armonic drive cost, you back off a little. 🙂 @Amby, yes, it is on that U-joint principle that I had designed the stomach rotations.

Robyn Inmoov using webkit speech recognition
Aaaah the French beret!
Ah finally switching also to a more recent version!
ProgramAB with the webkit recognition works SO much better now.
Last version 1114 still had trouble with loosing an Arduino and the jaw got fixed in version 1113 by Kevin.
Wooooiii we are close to a steady version, waiting for it since more than year, ahaha.

The ball joint
I resigned the Top Stomach so now it can lean Forward and Backwards. The design is a ball joint with 3 servos. It still needs some work but the concept is good.
Mmmh I had written a comment a few hours ago, but I guess it just disappeared. Awesome work Bob!!!!!! This is really adding a cool feature!! When I was designing the stomach parts I wanted set in a 3d printed « rotule de cardan » (I don’t know how it’s called in English http://motopieces.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/rotule-de-cardan-624×468.jpg) to…En afficher davantage
Thanks for your comments, Gael. Over here we call that type of joint a U-Joint. I considered that type of joint for this modification but the ball joint is much simpler. I left the pots in the servos and used my modified pistons that I made earlier for the Top Stomach. The reason I am experimenting with this is, that for walking I think the robot…En afficher davantage

Thanks Bob for the name « U-joint », I couldn’t grab it on internet. You are totally correct concerning good stomach movements for to be able to have human gait ressemblance.

This is very promissing. Just for info InMoov is supposed to be between 1.75 to 1.80 meter tall. You seem to have it correct!

and the full forearm – still to be assembled…
Beautifull
Productive weekend! I finalized the wrist. have all servos in place, and started assembling the hand. It is stronger than what I was imagining! InMoov will be my bodyguard…
btw – I tried different techniques to assemble ServoPulley and the cleanest if you have the tool is to rivet pieces together (top servos)
Awesome! Oh yeah riveting must be a good and strong option! You don’t plan to fix tendons like in the tutorial?

Initializing a project using a Graber i3 3D printer, ABS and Nylon filament (ABS to the cover parts, nylon to the gear parts).
Nice, nylon for the gears and splines should work a treat.
Good initiative, nylon printing is very good for all the gears and wormgears. I tested some Nylon printed piston in the bicep for a while and it was pretty smooth and strong.

This is a bit cryptic. What and in which way should this device enhance the finger? Torque? Speed? Position feedback? Make? Costs? Wheight? Where to place it? How to control it?

A few more tweaks to my bicep remix, the parts are going on the printer today. This remix beefs up the bicep frames to 10mm.
Has anyone considered how much weight is being carried by the tiny little screw down the centre of the servo drive shaft that holds the horn onto the shaft? How big is on those servos, 1.5-2mm, 3 maybe?
Ya know, it’s an interesting question, and I don’t know what shear point is for the 2.5mm machine screw used. But in all cases where I’ve broken something, the plastic snaps well before the screw does. I’ve never had a problem with the servo horn set screw.
Not just the screw but the little thickness of the plastic horn under the head of the screw also.
Until now, 3 years of demos, I didn’t see issues with the horn part at screw level. Because I printed my parts in ABS with a 3 shell perimeter I never broke any of my bicep parts besides the early pistons which had a smaller diameter. So I’m guessing this beefier remix is ready for combat! 🙂

mods for turnigy 1270HV 40kg
Let us know how this goes. I can’t seem to find if the turnigy 1270HV is analog or digital, I would need to search a little more and surely find the specs someplace. But I’m guessing this is going to suck up much more Amps from your supply. Better get a good 30 Amps+ supply for your built.

Not sure anymore, but at one point I had designed 194 parts. I guess it would be good to re-count to get an update.
Hello Wally and hello all the community of InMoov. We made a basic count about the printing hours you need to create (more or less) all the Robot, at 70 mm/sec and with a good quality printing (2/3 shells, 20% infill). Maybe could be useful for all. Sorry it’s in italian but I think the meaning could be clear.

Maybe you want to have a look at my solution: http://snaptip.com/ro15mqorh8/soldering-vs-crimping
Hi Juerg. That looks really good. I ordered a set of 100 male+female 3-pin connectors based on your suggestion. I think that will be enough for the whole build 🙂
Hey nice MAKER suggestion, I bet it is going to help more than one builder. Thanks for sharing.
A little bit more autonomy? I have created a MRL-script (python) that includes the kinematic facts of InMoov, reads the current servo positions and calculates the head and palms x,y,z positions from it. Based on this the rothead and neck positions are calculated to have the eyes point to the hand by simply using lookatHand(« left ») or…En afficher davantage
