Quarantine has given me time to work on the graphical UI for InMoov in the new version of MyRobotLab (non released NIXIE). There is still many bugs because the webgui is a BIG work in progress, but you can try it out and see many new features. Thanks to Astro for all the help and making a tutorial to get me to understand how to work with […] View

Forearm alternate with more variations for hand positions?

Anybody interested in helping design an alternate InMoov forearm?
I would like to move wrist rotation back into the elbow – eliminating string issues with wrist rotation.
I would like to add more DOF for hand direction, something similar to Bob Huston head.

That won’t work for this application for a few reasons… First and foremost no two servos accurately position the same… And if they don’t they tend “fight” each other… A second reason is you would have to solder the pot to both circuit boards… again, won’t work… see reason 1… The simplest and only way is to follow the tutorial Gael wrote….

Nope,,,, HS-805BB are the cheapest out there for their size,,, prices are all over the place with servos-,, have a look at quite a few web-shops before buying- you should be paying around $35usd for them- but check out the “postage cost” before buying ,,,

I use the HK15338. They are the same size and cost $15 USD. Available in the US too.

Everything is a tradeoff. They are basically clones and can be modified in the same way as the 805’s.
A little less torque, a little less speed but definitely usable. I have been happy with them.

Cool,,, I’ll get a couple of them for testing,,, at that price i can fry/destroy them without worrying about it,,,, going to use these in the end (see link) ,, providing i don’t find a problem with them- there a Australian clone of the Savox ,,,, but beefed up,,, not down,,,, bit pricey ,,, but the torque is good, and got the 7.2v option too…[Read more]

for the large servos I strongly recommend using heat-up fuses so it stops the current before burning up the servo. I anyway had expected that these servos would come with overload protection but the manufacturers seem to like them burning out …

After a long long time I have restarted my inmoov.
I had some alignment issues with the PLA parts but i re-calibrated every thing and now I can restart this winter project again.

Maybe al need to glue them together.

at least for the head you might find alternate parts that help to reduce the gaps. you can also try to fill the gaps with filler, 3d filament pistols or use a dremel filled with short filament pieces and do something like smoldering the pieces together. be prepaired to do a lot of sanding to get a good result

    • Profile picture of Mindless
Mindless replied 8 years, 11 months ago

When It comes to using fillers/putty’s- there’s basically 4 types- stuff you use for -plaster board- in home building /renovation work– and there’s -Model putty- and there’s also the type for auto repairs with fibreglass reinforcement and a version without fibreglass reinforcement – and there’s Plaster Of Paris and Moulding Types
      The Plaster boa…[Read more]

      Thanks Guy’s

I think I am going to attack it with a heat-gun and slowly heat up some parts and see if I can bend some parts a bit in to shape.

To be honest I don’t really like a smooth baby bottom head 😀
Getting the gaps closer together is enough for me.
I will post some pictures when it done.

Funny you should say that,,, I’m not a fan of putty’s and paints either on my 3d printed stuff,,, my father was a panel beater back when car where made of Metal and I’ve done Moulding/ Home Renovation work before so I got pretty knowledge of putty’s / Fillers and Plaster,,,, Got a top of line heat Gun to fix parts that are warp are need a little…[Read more]

    Hello InMoovers,

I like to include the FSR (Force Sensitive Sensor) to all my finger servo’s.
    https://learn.adafruit.com/force-sensitive-resistor-fsr
For the starter_kit I’ve re-designed some servo adapter things, to make it possible to slide the servo forwards/backwards.
Next step, is the position-holder for the FSR.

To get a idea how it looks:…[Read more]

          hey Marten
nice to see you are working on this. can’t really see from the picture how the servo will be able to move. is it mounted on the blue part? but then it would need 2 screw holes on each side in the blue part?
and just realize that I do not know what servo make/type you are using.

            Hi Juerg,

The servo is mounted with two screws to the blue part.
the blue part has the option to slide in the light grey part.
